People Management: Janine Chidlow discusses economic inactivity in the UK
The economic inactivity rate of those aged 16 to 24 years is a major concern in the UK, according to Janine Chidlow, managing director of WilsonHCG.
Chidlow made this comment in an interview with journalists from People Management when discussing labour market figures from the UK’s Office for National Statistics.
She added:
More needs to be done to encourage these potential workers into meaningful employment that will add to core skills in the UK, or we could soon face a skills deficit on a more significant scale that will only have a detrimental effect on businesses and the economy.”

This is especially true for STEM remits where skills shortages are rife.
